Loveable and Adoptable Casey

Photobucket
Casey is an adoreable six month old puppy (believed to be a lab/shepherd/rottie mix) whose owners decided they could not afford and dropped off Casey and his dad Mack at the local shelter.  Casey is a little shy, but he is very affectionate and sweet.  He is learning quickly, and he keeps his kennel clean already.  He is fine with cats and other dogs, and he is fantastic with people including children.  He has no health issues, and he would be fully vetted and neutered prior to being rescued.  Please consider helping to save a wonderful dog from an undeserving fate.

Casey is still at his rural shelter in Hampshire County, WV.  The shelter has a very low adoption rate which means it also has a very high kill rate.  However, it’s a really well intentioned shelter that takes great care of the dogs there and goes out of their way to work with rescues to help give these beautiful little ones a chance.  However, its size, location, and lack of financing put it behind the eight ball all the time.

If you think you can help Casey, please contact either me (pawboysandgirls@yahoo.com) or the shelter directly (reptiles87@hotmail.com).  For sincere rescues with a good reputation, we can help find sponsorship for Casey and others from this shelter as well as help with regional transports.
Here is a link to Casey’s Petfinder profile as well.   http://www.petfinder.com/petnote/displaypet.cgi?petid=13109091

Beloved Little Bear

SWEET SWEET SWEET LITTLE BEAR

Photobucket

Bear was one of the few dogs that I feel I let down.  He was dreadfully afraid of this world.  Whatever was done to him, we will never know.  However, we know that he was the sweetest little guy once he knew you were not going to hurt him.  He had absolutely no fear agression, as I learned quickly by breaking the rules and crawling in with him when he was hiding before the rescue transport.  Despite my invasion of his space, he just rolled over and offered me his paw, and we were good after that.  Its always strange in this world that those whom we knew so briefly often change our lives so dramatically.

So many wonderful people helped Bear, and I will try to update this to reflect all of the people who went to the extra mile and beyond for Bear.  Bear finally found a great loving home with a sweet, patient couple who adopted him into their quiet home on a residential col de sac.  They adored Bear, and he finally had his own little place.  Tragically, Bear ran out one night and never returned.  His family searched for him desperately and recruited friends and family to help find Bear.  Sadly, animal control called me with news that devestated me.  Because I could not compose myself, I had to rely on Becca to call Bear's family and let them know of the sad news.  A very sincere animal control officer helped recover Bear from a wooded area adjacent to a road where he had been hit by a car and killed instantly.  The officer helped Bear's family lay him to rest in their backyard where he will always rest in peace under a dedicated memorial in the only place in this world where he was given a short sanctuary from what had been a cruel world until he was rescued.  It has taken me a long time to write anything about Bear, and my heart goes out to his wonderful family who offered Bear a loving, understanding, and patient home.  We are all too sorry that Bear only knew of love in his final months of what was too short of a fearful life for a dog that did not have a bad bone in his tiny little body.  Like many of us, I only wish we could have done more to help Bear and pray that he is truly finally at peace now.

Anna and Sassey

Anna and Sassey were Feist Terrier siblings that were quite a unique pair.  Both were adotped locally to a great young couple so they could always watch out for each other.

Beagle Litter - 8 weeks old - find loving homes

Seven Beagle Mix Puppies - 5 girls, 2 boys

Pistachio, Peanut, Daisy, Rosie, Sweet Pea, Lilly, and Peony all found loving homes in our area.  In fact, Peanut and Daisy also got to stay together, as the runt of the litter and the alpha, it worked out well for all the puppies.
